On the first day, topics covered social media trends and patterns, using financial counseling to address the financial harms of problem gambling, the intersection of mental illness and substance use disorders with problem gambling, and a discussion on making Illinois a Gambling Informed State.
Public Awareness, Gambling Disorder Education, and Voices From Problem Gamblers in Recovery
On the second day, discussions included public awareness and educational gambling campaigns in Illinois, the 1-800-Gambler hotline and strategies to lower barriers to treatment for those affected by problem gambling, responsible gambling policies, and concluded with “Voices of Resilience,” a panel discussion featuring individuals who have overcome problem gambling and are currently in recovery.
